A new neighbor

On March 17th I noticed a pair of cardinals (Mr. and Mrs.) flying from the trees to my backyard fence and then the shrubs around it. They must be real estate shopping to set up their new nest.
I told them to contact my real estate agent friend, Lois, for more info like neighborhood eating places, tree inspection reports, home schooling options, animal crime reports, etc.!!
Then on the 18th the couple had selected a nice location in the red tipped tall shrubs next to the wrought iron fence. The missus started construction on the home. They are building a nice rustic look of sticks instead of logs. Mr. C stayed close by in a crepe myrtle tree and they were discussing the design for most of the day.
On the 21st Mrs. C was still hard at work building this new home for their family. I did notice Mr. C came by and they left together for a while. I do hope he took her for a nice, long lunch.
Then on the 25th there it was!!! A beautiful egg, pale blue with dark spot!!!! Oh, the excitement with my neighbors and myself!!! Plans for a baby-birdie-shower was next!
But it was not to be...on the 26th something had knocked the egg from it's nest and it was broken on the ground. I don't know where Mrs. C had been and why she wasn't more protective of this egg. But then I don't know the Mr. and Mrs.'s home habitation situation either so I will not judge her.
She has flown back to check the nest out several times, as has the Dad. And they both tweet their sorrow sadly. They stayed close by in a tree for a couple of days just tweeting.
So sad. Sometimes Mother Nature's plans are harsh! And now I find myself thinking unkind thoughts of that crazy blue jay that buzzes by now and then!

I'mmm Baaack!!!

It has been three years and so much has happened!! The further out of my rabbit hole I have come, the 'happenings' have been good..and bad!

The worst 'bad' was the loss of my love, Bella. My beautiful yellow lab died of cancer last summer and it has been hard with many moments of crying ever since. A more loving dog would be hard to find! And she went through so many bad times with me that I was just beginning to give her some of that 'good' she so deserved. The apartment I rent was specifically for Bella because it has a patio and lovely yard. She could spend time out there and do her "meet-and-greet" with the other people and dogs in the small complex! And many friends she had made before her passing. They still stop by and tell me little stories of her! So while she plays next to the Rainbow Bridge, her memory stays strong in my mind and heart.

My daughter, Karri, felt like after several weeks of losing Bella that I needed another
sweetie in my life! So a little chihuahua made her way to my home after her owner was going to have to give her up. I call this an "Open Adoption" because Kelly, the previous owner, and I have become friends and she has been to visit us a couple of times! Zoe is my sixth chihuahua in my life so I'm not surprised at her antics, but she is a cutie; black with brown and white "trim", about 8 lbs, and 2 yrs. old. All the 'hard work' of house training had been done, so it was just transition to my place. She is a frisky, friendly (same neighbors have fallen for her!!), ball of energy! Cute as a can be and has moved into my heart!! We plan on many adventures in the future!!

Oh, yes...me? I am doing good! Dealing with this lousy MS (did I mention I have Multiple Sclerosis???) on a daily basis and happy at bedtime that I can usually say "Glenda 1- MS-0"!!

So this post is testimony that if you don't have a dog, GET ONE!!!! And get a Rescue dog as your first choice!! If you INSIST on a pure-bred then at least use a reputable breeder. AKC's website will give you a list in your area.

So "HI"!!!...AND "BYE" for now!!!

Fourth of July

Celebrations abounded within my family and friendship circles this weekend like a box of fireworks!
One daughter and family went to north Texas camping ( and came home a 'little' early due to this early summer Texas heat!) and the other daughter and her family headed to the south for a celebration at a Texas beach!!! But both enjoyed fun, food, and fireworks!!! Even Bella (remember the yellow lab that really is a doggie-person!!) and I went for a ride to see the city's fireworks from a distant! Just beautiful!
It takes a holiday for us to get together with family and friends and that's good.. and it's bad. The good? At least they are on the calendar to remind us to plan these events. But the bad? They don't come around enough for some of us who really enjoy this family pageantry! So we should make up our own holidays just for family and friends to come together! How about a "Third Friday of the Month"? Or how about "Celebration of BBQ To be Enjoyed Inside In The Air-Conditioning" (keep in mind we are going through 100 plus degree days in Texas already!!)? We could really get crazy here but the idea is the "get together"!!
My brother who lives in Utah brought his 20 yr.old daughter (who goes to college in Puget Sound, WA) in last weekend so Lauren could meet her Texas clan. Both my daughters and their families were here and Lauren had the chance to meet cousins she had only known through emails! It was a wonderfully wacky, wild three day weekend with food, BBQ, board games (boy! this family is competitive!!), ice skating, and Rick even drove her around the old hometown and all the sights!!!! We are hoping she WILL come visit again!

All of this has just brought to light like one of those BIG fireworks......it's so nice to have family and friends that love the companionship that these relationships are there for!

Bright light!!!!!

I have come out of the "Rabbit Hole" I have been living in for three years and I see bright lights ahead of me!!! The long-term relationship ( or let's say the EXTREMELY long marriage) is over and this baby boomer has dried her tears and taken on her new adulthood.

Filling my life now will be fun!! I have daughters and son in laws that I love dearly. I have those absolutely PERFECT grandchildren that I know abound in other people's lives, too!! And close at hand is my beloved labrador who has been my listening post and always agreed with me no matter the "drama-and-trauma" I was going through!! Those big brown eyes just said, "It's okay, Mom. But we do seem to be sliding a little further down in this Rabbit Hole!! No problem, though, you just say when and I will start digging!!"

Well, Bella, start digging!!!!! We are going to make new life experiences!!!!! Bright Lights!!!!!!
